As we make our way toward the deadline for entries, more of the nation’s “prettiest painted places” are making their way into our competition. Among the nominees are restored “Main Streets,” bungalow communities, Victorian neighborhoods, picturesque seaports, resort towns, every type of historical district imaginable – and many communities that can be described as just plain pretty.

Surveying the spectacular collection of entries makes one thing very clear: Every part of America has its beautiful places — pretty and distinctive towns and communities that reflect the geographic, ethnic, and cultural diversity that we, as a nation, share.

Below is a list of the second 50 “places” that have entered our competition. If you’re like us, you’re probably familiar with some of these places — while others will be new to you. That’s part of the fun of our competition: discovering new towns and communities that surprise, delight, and impress!
