What is it that makes one town or neighborhood prettier than the next? Sometimes it’s the setting, other times, the architecture. . .but many times, it’s the attractive exterior paint schemes!
To prove the point, the Paint Quality Institute is conducting an ambitious search this summer to find the Prettiest Painted Places in America – those neighborhoods, historical districts, communities, towns and cities that make the best use of quality exterior paint to enhance their inherent beauty and charm.
Since many of the most beautiful painted places are off the beaten path, we’re inviting state tourism officials and chamber of commerce executives, as well as painting contractors, residents and visitors, to nominate communities for participation in our competition. In fact, anyone can nominate a pretty painted place simply by completing a brief online entry form and uploading 15 or more pictures of the community of their choice.
In coming weeks, we’ll showcase some of the most attractive entries here on our website. Then, in September, we’ll select 60 finalists in our competition. That’s when the real fun begins.
At that time, we’ll post all of the images submitted on behalf of the 60 communities chosen as finalists. To learn more about those places, PQI representatives will make unannounced visits to many of them. Finally, in October, judges who have worked as journalists at HGTV, the Home and Living Examiner, and other major media will help evaluate the finalists and select the 12 Prettiest Painted Places in America!
In the meantime, we invite each and every one of you to get actively involved in our Prettiest Painted Places competition!
If you live in a beautiful painted neighborhood or town, why not take a walk and take some pictures? Then enter your community in our contest. Taking a vacation? Take some more pictures and enter that place, too. And whether you nominate one place, several places, or none at all, be sure to visit our website often to follow the progress of our competition.
Meanwhile, don’t be surprised if you read about Prettiest Painted Places in your local newspaper or see it featured on your favorite TV station. We’ll be heavily publicizing our search over the next several months, and from every indication, the media are very interested.
